Dear Parents,
I am so sad to realize we have only one week left of school. This school year has been a blessing. I am very proud of the growth the students have achieved in all areas of First Grade. We have many wonderful memories together. Happy trails into Second Grade!
Your child is doing great things to prepare for Second Grade. Please continue to work together in all areas of First Grade, now and throughout the summer. This will ensure a solid start for the beginning of next year. I will send home the Reading workbook, Math and Religion books at the end of the year. Continue to work on the pages we didn't finish in school. This will help them enter Second Grade with a solid start.
Your child should continue to read aloud for 15 minutes or MORE each night. The practice will help with expression, comprehension, and self confidence. Throughout the months record the reading minutes on the monthly Reading Calendars. Add the Total Minutes and bring the Reading Calendars back to school Room 10, at the end of the summer for a reward. In addition, have your child write in a daily Journal.
In addition, we are starting Two Digit Addition and Subtraction. Please work with these concepts at home. We continue to add and subtract Math facts to 20, as well as related facts and fact families. Please drill/practice the addition and subtraction facts at home. Counting money and telling time should also be reviewed daily. We appreciate your support.
Every Friday look for the "Class Tribune" inside the "Friday Folder". You will find the Spelling and Vocabulary words for the next week in the Folder. Studying the words over the weekend will give your child a jump-start to mastering the words by TEST TIME. Should you have questions or comments regarding your child, I can be reached by notes in the Student Planner, email and telephone. (Please see info below.)
Have a safe and restful summer. We appreciate your help. Thank you, thank you! God bless you.
XOXOXOXO, M. Blanch
