For

Summer Scientists

If you go on a bridge, ask yourself:

How does this work?

Are the shapes used by the engineers important?

If you go to a beach, ask yourself:

How do waves work?

Why is it easier to run on the sand than it is to run in the water?

If the sun is shining on everything, why is the sand so hot it can burn your feet, and the water isn't?

Why do I float in the water?  Hey, some people float more than others!

. . . and ask yourself:

Why is the sky so pretty at sunset?

Why are there more colors in the sky at night than there are at noon?

Where did all that sand come from?

OBSERVE !!!

Don't learn about heat energy from the sun the hard way!

And if you see my friend Dr. Zoon, tell him that I said, "Hi."

What do I have to do to be

a Summer Scientist?

ASK QUESTIONS!!!

If you see a boat, ask yourself:

Why is the water higher in front of the boat?

Why can't the boat go faster, like a car or truck?

If you ride a bike, ask yourself:

What do all these sprockets do?

Why is it harder going uphill?

Why does the wind feel cool on my face?

and. . . how could I do this next hill more easily if I knew Newton's Three Laws of Motion?

If you go on a plane, ask yourself:

How does a plane move?

How does something so heavy stay up in the air?
